Our bodies need calcium to grow healthy bones and teeth, but many people are not getting enough calcium in their diets. Today we will share with you some ways that you can boost your daily calcium intake just by adding a few different things into your diet. Calcium Does A Body Good The government recommendation for our daily calcium intake is 1,000 mg of calcium daily for an adult, but the truth is, we really don't know how much calcium we need each day. What we do know is that most adults are not getting nearly enough. The best way to increase your daily calcium intake is by changing some of the foods you eat and including them into your regular diet. Foods that are high in calcium are important because simply taking a calcium supplement is not enough. Your body processes supplements differently than actual food, and you can actually get more calcium from the foods you eat than from supplements. By including dairy products in your diet every day, you can significantly increase your calcium intake. Leafy green vegetables are also high in calcium, as well as many other beneficial vitamins. Kale, spinach, broccoli and cabbage are excellent sources of calcium and including a serving of one of these every day is a great healthy choice. Fish is another good source of calcium. Even canned fish like salmon (with the bones in) and tuna are high in calcium. Brazil nuts and almonds are an excellent snack choice that are both high in calcium. Remember to limit your consumption of caffeine, including coffee and soft drinks and limit your alcohol as well. These things all can inhibit your absorption of calcium.
