You Need to Make Sure Your Teeth are Healthy Prior to Whitening

If you ask all of your close friends, they will probably all say the same thing. A healthy smile is super important, and the whiter and brighter, the better, right?

While we all want a whiter smile, and we all want to look camera ready for whatever might come our way, you need to pay attention to some details prior to whitening to make sure you have the best smile possible. If you are thinking about whitening your teeth, you need to make sure your teeth are healthy before you whiten.

Dental Check Up

Before you whiten your teeth, you need to make sure your teeth are in great shape. You may want to think about scheduling a checkup with your dentist. That way, if there is a problem with your teeth, you can get it taken care of before you whiten. For example, if you have a cavity that needs to be filled, or a crack in one of your teeth, you need to fix those issues before you whiten. If you don't, you may find that once you whiten your teeth, your cavity or crack is a different shade than your whitened teeth, which may make them more noticeable.

If you do go to the dentist and your teeth are in great shape, then you could always have them whiten your teeth while you're there. Many dentists offer teeth whitening as part of their program of care. You can also whiten your teeth yourself using whitening toothpaste, which whiten your teeth over time. You could also try whitening strips or whitening trays if you need your smile whiter more quickly.
