1:Sharing a Toothbrush is Never a Good Idea

1:Sharing a Toothbrush is Never a Good IdeaDentists usually advise against sharing your toothbrush with anyone. It is unhealthy and also because of the several types of bacteria that are found in the mouth.

These bacteria are responsible for cavities in the teeth. This cavity bacterium, also known as streptococcus mutans, is also highly transferable from one individual to the other.

Reasons Why Sharing a Toothbrush Isn't Such a Bright Idea

Sharing a toothbrush is not a good thing to do because this drastically increases your chances of getting a cavity. You can also contract other bacteria just by sharing a toothbrush. When some people brush their teeth, they bleed, and this means that you share blood and saliva. When you do this, you put yourself at risk of contracting blood-borne illnesses such as hepatitis and herpes.

When using a toothbrush, it is good to be aware that the bacterium that causes gum disease can be carried in a toothbrush. Sharing of the toothbrush is dangerous as some frayed toothbrush can cause illnesses like pneumonia and even carry the HPV virus. Studies have shown that this virus can cause cervical and even oral cancers.

Sharing a toothbrush makes you introduce a lot of oral bacteria in your mouth, and it will also make you leave bacteria on the toothbrush for the other person. Loss of teeth is another reason why you should stay away from other people's toothbrush. This is because you are at risk of suffering from a periodontal disease which has no cure.

We always advise that you change your toothbrush after 3-4 months because the bristles get weak and they no longer clean as effectively. On top of changing your toothbrush regularly, you should also come in to see us regularly for oral checkups and examines.

What our patients are saying about us
"The first thought that comes to mind for this dental office is "kindness". Perhaps the Kind in Dr. Kindt's name was meant to be! Dr. Kindt and his staff offer the very best in dental care. I recently had extensive cosmetic dental work done and am delighted with the results. The great thing is that people notice my lovely teeth and I get lots of compliments when I smile. I consider Dr. Tim an artist when it comes to dental work. In addition to beautiful work the next best thing is that during hours of extensive work I experienced NO discomfort or pain. The final results combined with the utmost care for my comfort make it easy for me to give this dental office a five star rating." ~ Elaine S.
