How to Keep Your Oral Health Optimal

Posted on 5/24/2021 by Alyce
How to Keep Your Oral Health OptimalTo make the most of your oral health, you need to invest your time into brushing at least twice a day (preferably morning and evening) and flossing at least once a day. It also does not hurt to use a tongue scraper to clean your tongue and to use a water flosser to supplement your regular at-home routine.

What You Should Include in Your Daily Dental Regimen

To maintain optimal dental health, you should always brush your teeth for 2 minutes per session twice a day. You also should floss once a day for the same amount of time and use a tongue scraper to keep your breath fresh. Do not use a mouthwash that contains alcohol, as alcohol is drying and only masks bad breath. For optimal dental care, use an antibacterial mouth rinse. Ask us for a recommendation before buying a mouthwash to supplement your at-home dental care. When using a tongue scraper, go about half-way back in the mouth and glide the scraper toward the front. Wipe off the scraper with a tissue and rinse it. To make sure it is extra clean, use a mild dishwashing liquid and warm water and clean the scraper before rinsing it. Use a water flosser to take care of removing interdental plaque or plaque along the gum line.

Which Is Better? A Manual Toothbrush or Powered Toothbrush?

You can get your teeth clean by using a manual toothbrush or electric or sonic-powered toothbrush. When choosing a toothbrush, make sure you choose a soft head, as a medium or firm head can erode the enamel. Also, use gentle strokes when bruising the teeth. Brush the eating surface of teeth in a circular motion and brush vertically when brushing interdentally. Never use a horizontal motion when brushing the teeth. If you use an electric or sonic-powered toothbrush, choose one with a round head.
