Food is essential in life. Good food mainly acts as the fuel and the shield your body uses to function and fight off infections. A good food diet in the right proportions gives our bodies instructions to perform smoothly, physically mentally, and maintain health and wellness.
How food works for the body
We are giving the body the results of the wrong food to the wrong instructions causing outcomes like overweight, underweight, or malnourished. These conditions develop into diseases like arthritis, diabetes, and cardiovascular diseases. In simpler words, what we consume is central to our health.
The nutrients present in food allow and fuel the cells in the body to continue their provided functions. These cells drive functions the body is involved in—for example, motor movement and digestion. People become overweight due to poor diet choices like overeating or binge eating. Being overweight, in turn, results in high cholesterol, hypertension, high sugar levels, plaque buildup in the blood vessels, and growths. Underweight individuals are malnourished due to poor eating habits like undereating or anorexic conditions. Being malnourished means that the body is not getting enough nutrients to thrive.
How bad food impacts health
High cholesterol in the body is responsible for causing cardiovascular diseases. Foods with high cholesterol have high levels of saturated fats. Hypertension, also referred to as high blood pressure, is caused by overeating junk and refined foods. They cause diseases of the brain and heart. High sugar levels in the body due to consumption of too much high sugar foods. Diabetes is the ultimate result of high sugar levels.
Stroke is usually caused by plaque buildup in the blood vessels. This plaque could break off as a clot and cause a blockage in the arteries—foods high in salt, cholesterol, and fat increase the risk. Certain foods cause the accumulation of fluids in the body. Fluids such as uric acid could accumulate due to poor nutrition and cause swellings and the formation of crystals. Tumors could also develop due to the intake of highly refined foods. These tumors could be malignant or benign.
