When we extract a tooth, we do everything possible to make the process quick and easy. We also talk to you and your child about replacement options if the tooth being extracted is a permanent tooth. This may include a single denture, a partial, or an implant. The right solution for your child depends on their overall oral health. Crowns are put in place following a root canal, or after a tooth has been damaged so badly that the root is exposed. A dental crown will allow your child to bite down again without causing damage to the rest of the tooth or causing pain. We may place a crown to help hold a tooth together instead of extracting the tooth. Many of our patients of all ages have fillings. When any tooth has a cavity, the space that was eaten away needs to be filled to prevent further damage and to ensure that the root does not become exposed.
